The changing wholesale data center market

Data Center Knowledge recently published an interview with Vantage SVP of Operations, Chris Yetman, on the evolution of the data center market. (If you missed it, you can check out the article here.)

We’ve noticed that traditional “wholesale” data center providers are moving down market and offering smaller data center footprints to their clients, often in the deep sub-1MW range. This trend is driven in part by the emergence of high-growth web and mobile companies that are interested in taking data center space earlier in their lifecycle, and in part by data center companies seeking to expand the range of customers they can serve. One benefit for customers of this trend is that they can get into a data center sooner, and therefore get the cost and control benefits of doing so sooner. Another benefit is that they can grow with one provider, rather than moving each time they enter a new stage of scale.
