Vantage Data Centers and Santa Clara Mayor to Kickoff Construction of V6, Vantage’s Newest Data Center

Development on Vantage’s V5 facility and second Santa Clara campus is also proceeding

SANTA CLARA, CA – October 12, 2016 Vantage Data Centers (Vantage), a leading provider of data center solutions in support of mission critical applications, and Santa Clara Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor are coming together to celebrate the groundbreaking for Vantage’s Data Center Building V6 on Thursday, October 13, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This event will mark the commencement of on-site demolition of the existing 40-year-old building to make way for the new state of the art V6 facility.  It will also feature tours of the soon-to-be-completed 6MW V4 facility. On the heels of receiving City of Santa Clara planning approval last week, Vantage is initiating construction of V6 to bring an additional 9MW of capacity to the Santa Clara market in Summer 2017.  The construction will transform the site at 2895 Northwestern Parkway from legacy office space into a modern, two-story facility delivering over 32,000 square feet of data center space.

“This event represents Vantage’s strong commitment to enabling innovation and growth in Silicon Valley,” said Sureel Choksi, President and CEO, Vantage Data Centers. “We greatly appreciate the city of Santa Clara’s support of data center development, which fuels continued innovation in Silicon Valley for the benefit of consumers and businesses and around the world.”

Vantage also announced that development has begun on V5, a 12MW data center that will deliver capacity following V6, in early 2018.  On a combined basis, V5 and V6 will expand the capacity of the existing Santa Clara campus from 51MWto 72MW of critical IT load.  To enable its campus expansion, Vantage is expanding the site’s power capacity by adding a third 50MW transformer to the existing substation on campus.

Separately, Vantage announced that it is proceeding with design and entitlements for its second Santa Clara data center campus, which is located on Mathew Street.  The new campus will bring 54MW of data center capacity across four newly constructed buildings, with the first phase planned for delivery in 2018. The second Santa Clara campus, along with the V5 and V6 facilities, will bring six new data centers to Santa Clara over the next few years, totaling 75 MW of additional capacity.
