Vantage to Expand Data Center Following New 3MW Lease in Santa Clara with Leading Technology Provider

Santa Clara, CA, January 13, 2015 – Vantage Data Centers (Vantage), a leading provider of data center solutions in support of mission-critical applications, today announced a long-term agreement to provide 3MW of high-density data center space to a technology provider in Silicon Valley for use as a high-tech R&D lab. The lab will be located within Vantage’s V2 Santa Clara facility, which boasts an annualized power usage effectiveness (PUE) rating of less than 1.2, making it the most energy-efficient data center in Silicon Valley.

Since the redundancy and resiliency typical of most data center arrangements was not critical for this lab environment, Vantage custom-configured a solution with only the essential capabilities required by the customer, while also offering significant scalability to allow for future growth. To meet the customer’s unique needs, the high-density rack design will support 12kW/rack in an ‘N’, or non-redundant, power configuration.

“Technology companies require robust R&D lab functionality now more than ever, but there are many challenges associated with building and operating this environment in-house,” said Sureel Choksi, President and CEO of Vantage. “As an alternative to scattering multiple labs across different office buildings, Vantage can provide a flexible and scalable solution to serve as a high-powered sandbox.”

This latest lease, signed during the fourth quarter of 2014, capped 5.6MW of new Santa Clara leasing for Vantage over a twelve-month period. As a result of strong leasing traction, Vantage has initiated a significant capacity expansion at its Santa Clara campus. This next phase of development consists of 3MW of new capacity scheduled for delivery in Vantage’s V2 building during the second quarter of 2015, as well as the first phase of a 9MW expansion of Vantage’s V1 building, with initial capacity scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2015.

Vantage’s custom-configured model helps meet unique requirements and delivers operational excellence to a wide range of customers. The company’s campuses in Santa Clara and Quincy, Washington, include four enterprise-grade data centers totaling over 100MW of potential capacity. Vantage’s highly reliable, energy efficient facilities, coupled with advantageous utility costs, provide customers with significant total cost of ownership advantages.
